Remember

After David Whyte, after Derek Mahon

Your great mistake is
to act as if
I am not there
and that I do not love you.

Remember – Re remember – Recollect
the whales surrounding you
in the waters off Victoria sound,
when you sought just one – but one hundred came.

Stir up the faith unfolding within you.
I am with you.
It is I who walk alongside you.
Who is it that joins you on your journey?

Whose is the grace that lifts your
generous heart?
And in whose hand is held your tender,
trembling soul?

From where does such courage come?

O ye of little faith.
