Leadership in context...

“The test of leadership is not to put greatness into humanity, but to elicit it, for the greatness is there already.”

What can Appreciative Inquiry (AI) offer to the corporate coach?

The ideas in this paper grow out of the thinking that was developed in the above paper.  Appreciative Inquiry (AI) has its roots in SFBT and sits beneath the theoretical umbrella of social constructionism (more of which later).

AI emerged from the work of David Cooperrider and his colleagues, notably S. Srivasta.  It challenges the premise that the social-organisational world is a problem waiting to be solved.  It asks us instead to consider that adopting an appreciative position in relation to organisational dynamics can lead to more creative, sustainable and long term solutions.  For a very brief introduction to these ideas see Solution Focused Appreciative Inquiry.
