Too young to be a Director

As a result of a performance appraisal at a City Plc where I had worked closely with the board (facilitating away-days on its future strategy), I was invited by the COO to work with one director. I used Appreciative Inquiry to increase the confidence of this director and to help him believe he had ‘gravitas’ with his own client base. Because he ‘looked young’ he believed that his clientele thought he was not mature enough to do the job. This was a 6-month coaching contract, which included 4 monthly 1:1 conversations with the director concerned.
