Georgina Noakes BHum MSc FRSA

Georgina NoakesGeorgina Noakes was one of the first executive coaches in the UK to obtain an MSc in Coaching & Development from the University of Portsmouth (run in conjunction with Performance Consultants) in 2005. The MSc gave Georgina the opportunity to put an academic frame around twenty years’ commercial experience and a decade of coaching practice. Her MSc work was supervised by David Campbell, MA, Phd, Principal Clinical Psychologist at the Tavistock Clinic in London, who remains Georgina’s supervisor.

Prior to undertaking her MSc, Georgina’s CPD included training with Insoo Kim Berg (Solution Focused Coaching), David Whyte (poet & author of The Heart Aroused – Poetry and the Preservation of the Soul at Work), Julio Ollala (Newfield Network), Sir John Whitmore (GROW model) and Tim Gallwey (The Inner Game of Work).

“The task of leadership is not to put greatness into people, but to elicit it, for the greatness is there already.”      John Buchan

Georgina was born and bred in the Yorkshire Dales and went to school in the Lake District, which gave her a love of dry stone walls and the open spaces between.

At Froebel Institute in London, Georgina took a degree in contemporary dance and drama.  This was to sow in her the seeds of creativity and a collaborative approach with people that she still values in her work today.

After leaving university in 1982, Georgina spent 7 years in South Africa helping to set up non-racial educational arts projects with an emphasis on developing leaders for the post-apartheid era.  The focus on leadership through dialogue - being part of the solution rather than part of the problem - that she learned during this time informs her practice today as a coach.

When Georgina returned to the UK in 1989 she was one of the first marketing professionals to join the legal sector, ending up as Director of Marketing at international shipping & insurance law firm Ince & Co in the City of London from 1992 to 1996.  She was a member of the emergency response team at the firm - managing the media in high profile shipping casualties, and was part of the leadership team - active in developing Ince’s practice in Greece, Singapore, Hong Kong and Shanghai.

In 1997, Georgina set up coaching consultancy Bright Side Productions.  She works as a coach, teacher and facilitator in the corporate sector, at board level, and in the professional services arena with leaders and their teams.  She uses a systems approach to understanding organisational life and a systemic approach with her clients, i.e. that each of us is but one part of a greater whole.  She has been described as using ‘an engaging, down to earth and commercially focused approach to helping her clients discover practical solutions to their complex problems’.

Georgina is seen as a leader in her field and is a popular conference speaker, workshop facilitator and author on Executive Coaching.  She is a facilitator & chair for Windsor Leadership Trust at both its Consultations for Newly Appointed Strategic Leaders and its Consultations for Strategic Leaders and has close alliances with some of the top coaches in the UK, who work with her on larger scale projects.  Georgina is on the faculty of the Adair Leadership Foundation and is a member of both the European Mentoring & Coaching Council and the Association for Coaching.  She is a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.

Georgina is one of the first executive coaches in the UK to have obtained, with Merit, an MSc in Coaching & Development in July 2005, receiving a distinction for her dissertation – about how coaching conversations influence the change process in organisational life.  She is married to Richard, has two step sons, and lives in Hampshire with a menagerie of animals.
